In Detail
Most technologies are developed with an inspiration of human capabilities. Most of the time, the hardest to implement capability is vision. Development of highly capable computer vision applications in an easy way requires a generic approach. In this approach, Arduino is a perfect tool for interaction with the real world. Moreover, the combination of OpenCV and Arduino boosts the level and quality of practical computer vision applications.
Computer vision is the next level of sensing the environment. The purpose of this book is to teach you how to develop Arduino-supported computer vision systems that can interact with real life by seeing it.
This book will combine the powers of Arduino and computer vision in a generalized, well-defined, and applicable way. The practices and approaches in the book can be used for any related problems and on any platforms. At the end of the book, you should be able to solve any types of real life vision problems with all its components by using the presented approach. Each component will extend your vision with the best practices on the topic.
In each chapter, you will find interesting real life practical application examples about the topics in the chapter. To make it grounded, we will build a vision-enabled robot step by step towards the end of the book. You will observe that, even though the contexts of the problems are very different, the approaches to solve them are the same and very easy!
Style and approach
This book is a step-by-step guide that explains each topic sequentially by using best practices and useful tips to build computer-vision applications with OpenCV and Arduino. All the information in the book is combined in a real life all-in-one example application.

NOT Arduino computer vision programming
By Kevin Carlson
Reading the book's description, you might think that the Arduino could be capable of processing images or video (albeit at an extremely slow pace, given the Arduino's typical 16 MHz speed and very limited memory). Still, I thought it would be worth a shot, since I have seen video boards intended to work with Arduinos.
If you did think that, then I'm sorry to say that you will be severely disappointed.
The book is almost entirely about using a PC running OpenCV software. I didn't see any mention of using a camera with an Arduino attached to it.
Caveat emptor...

From beginner to expert in one single book.
By Amazon Customer
If you are new to computer vision this is a great book to get started. The book explains in depth and in an understandable language how it is done.
I think the book is very well structured starting with the big picture and going into detail on the sub components.
The examples are based on openCV (obviously not running on a Arduino) connected to a Arduino communicating over the serialport.
All building blocks needed to get a quality vision solution are dealt with in the book.
As both openCV and the Arduino IDE are opensource one only needs to invest in a arduino and a web cam to get started.
In other words: This book is a great way to lead you in the world of vision programming with or without Arduino.

A great introduction to both OpenCV and Arduino.
By Matthew Williams
This is a great introduction to both sensor integration with the Arduino and the OpenCV platform. The book walks you through a series of exercises alternating between the Arduino and OpenCV environments while ultimately combining the two together for a final exercise of using OpenCV to navigate a robot controlled by an Arduino. The book does a good job detailing the setup and installation of a working OpenCV environment for a variety of platforms (Linux, OSX, Android, iOS, and Window) as well as various techniques for filtering image data through OpenCV. The code samples were clear and visual representations of the Arduino and the appropriate connections to various sensors through a breadboard were a nice touch.
