**A USA Today Must-Read Romance!**

Will the prince's kiss be enough to revive her frozen heart? Don't miss GATHERING FROST, a dystopian romance from bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis that reimagines the classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty.

"I wish I could say I was the hero of the story. A resister. A rebel. Someone who lived to bring an end to the queen who stole my childhood--my mother, my life, my very world. But I'm not. I'm not the good guy. I'm the one who puts the good guys in their graves."

Jade was only a little girl when the earthquake struck. Before her eyes, half of New York City disappeared, replaced by a village that seemed torn out of a storybook. Horses and carriages. Cobblestone streets. A towering castle. And, above all, a queen with the magical ability to strip emotions away.

Ten years later and Jade has forgotten what it is to feel, to care...even to love. Working as a member of the queen's guard, she spends most of her time on the city wall staring at the crumbling skyscrapers of old New York. But everything changes when the queen's runaway son, Prince Asher, returns. Under his relentless taunts, her blood begins to boil. Under his piercing gaze, her heart begins to flutter. And the more her icy soul begins to thaw, the more Jade comes to question everything she's ever known--and, more importantly, whose side she's really on.

RAVE REVIEWS!
"My favorite thing about this book is the action. Jade isn't a sleeping princess. She's the best fighter and so fierce in her "empty" state. I felt like this was an urban fantasy with all the steam of a romance." -Jessie Potts, USA TODAY Happy Ever After Blog
"Davis writes with confidence and poise, and the story's many twists and turns stave off predictability and allow readers to become immersed in a starkly magical world filled with last hopes." - Publisher's Weekly

"Gathering Frost is just awesome in every way. Beautiful prose, lots of heart-wrenching emotion, action and romance, a great, unstoppable villain, and a smart, tough heroine who will fight for what she wants." - Geeks In High School
"The writing is flawless as always and I must say, way to take a classic and make such a creative and wonderful twist to it...It's well thought out and it unbelievably magnificent. I seriously couldn't put it down. Wait I never actually put it down. I started and finished in one sitting because it's just that good. This one is a MUST READ." - Happy Tails and Tales Blog
"I loved everything about this book! The different take on Sleeping Beauty, the strong female characters, and the overall vibe of the book/series to come. Jade is amazing and leaped off the page...This is not just a romance! It has great action scenes where Jade is kicking some major ass and there are surprises at every corner." - Hooked In A Book
"I loved this book. To me is it a very loose reimagined world of Sleeping Beauty, but that is a good thing. It kept me guessing and really kept me on the edge of my seat. I stayed up late reading as I just had to know what happens next." - Michelle's Paranormal Vault of Books

From the Inside Flap
~~ Chapter One -- Excerpt ~~

"What is your name child?" Her voice was warm. It soothed me, relaxed me, filled me with hope.
"Jade."
She brushed my bangs from my forehead, kissed it softly. "Would you like me to help you? To make all of your fears go away?"
"Yes!" I wanted to run to my mom, to show her she didn't need to be afraid. The princess would help us. But I couldn't. Something stopped me.
A hand pressed against my chest, pricked my skin.
I looked up at the princess, struggling to break free of her hold, when a freeze snatched my heart, so cold that it burned. I tried to speak, but I was frozen. My limbs grew heavy, my lips felt fat, my vision started to spot.
"Don't worry, little Jade. I'm just putting you to sleep for a little while. You'll wake up soon."
I did. In a cell with other frightened girls. But I never felt the same. Icy. That's what some of us started calling it, this feeling like our hearts won't thaw. Even a fire doesn't warm me. I am hard. Frigid. Emotionless. Sometimes I think I must still be caught in a long dream.
But time has only made me tougher.
Now I know the princess by another name, Queen Deirdre, the Ice Queen.
And I wish I could say I was the hero of the story. A resister. A rebel. Someone who lived to bring an end to the queen who stole my childhood--my mother, my life, my very world.
But I'm not.
I'm not the good guy.
I'm the one who puts the good guys in their graves.

A not-so-typical fairy tale retelling
By Book Nerd Paradise
If you like fairy tale retellings that aren't the typical rehash of the same story, but something entirely new - then Gathering Frost is for you. Our sleeping beauty goes by the name Jade. Jade is a soldier in the queen's military. As with everyone else in the kingdom, she feels nothing. No joy, no anger, no jealousy, no love. She exists as the queen's pawn and can't conjure up enough feelings to care either way.

In walks our prince, Asher, who is an actual prince - the queen's long lost son. After some time away from the queen, Jade begins to return to normal. However, he can't hide from the mission given to her by the queen, nor can she hide from her feelings.

I really love the different take on fairy tales and this one was a little bit different. It mixed the traditional fairy tale involving castles, princes and an evil queen with a modern dystopian setting. It's an interesting combination that really worked for me in this case.

While I did find the relationship between Jade and Asher to be a bit predictable, it was still fun for me to read. It wasn't love at first sight or anything. Asher had to break the enchantment on Jade first.

Jade is pretty kick-ass. She's the best soldier the queen has and she's no damsel in distress. Her fight scenes are very descriptive and had me sitting on the edge of my seat.

As far as writing goes, I'm pretty impressed. I didn't even realize this was a self-pubished book until I was putting this post together. Not only is Gathering Frost well-written, descriptive, and has multi-dimensional characters, but it's also well edited. Not once did I have a typo or grammatical error throw me off while I was reading.

Fairy Tale Retelling with a Modern Twist
By Mandyk
So, I love retellings. I have for as long as I can remember. So whenever I see a new retelling, I pretty much already know it has to be mine. Sleeping Beauty was one of my favorite Disney movies when I was a kid (ok so they were all sort of my favorite), mostly because my cousin owned a copy and I didn't. As I got older I realized that it was the pretty magic scene with the cake, and the fact that watching it was a rarity, that made it more of a favorite. I really liked the direction that Davis took this story. While it is sort of a retelling, and there's definitely the elements of the fairy tale there, this story is so completely original and a refreshing look at the old tale. I loved finding the similar elements, while not feeling like I was reading the same story I read a hundred times before.

I really enjoyed our main character, Jade. She was such a bad ass, which is a favorite trait of mine. Such a far cry from the damsel in distress role most female characters in fairy tales occupy, Jade worked her way to the top of the queen's guard by proving herself better than all of her male peers. And even while under the queen's spell, she still knew that she craved freedom.

Asher, while sweet, warmhearted, and easygoing, was also brave. He did everything he could to protect people from the fate they should never have had to endure. Towards the end I also started to feel sympathy for the queen, which we all know is a sign of a well portrayed villain. She was still evil, but I couldn't help but feel a bit bad about her lot in life.

This was a cute start to what I'm sure will be a fun series. Plus, the next book is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, which still is one of my favorite fairy tales.

Fairytale meets modern life
By Maryam Dinzly
So, do you guys watch Once Upon A Time? If you do, I guarantee you that you will adore this book. Imagine you're living in New York City and suddenly, EARTHQUAKE. But it's not a normal earthquake. Instead. the ground splits up and half of New York City is replaced by a world taken out of the fairy tales land. What's worse is that it comes with Queen Diedre, the ice queen, one who is capable of taking away one's emotions. This was what happened to Jade's world. A few years later, Jade has forgotten what it feels like to FEEL. To even love, cry and feel pain. Until she met the queen's runaway son, Prince Asher. The story turns bad when Jade was tasked with an unusual mission. She's supposed to befriend the prince, make him trust her with his secrets of rebellion and then betray him. But the more time she spends with Asher, the more she learns to feel again. And soon, she has to choose which side she's on.

This book has quite a number of reference to The Sleeping Beauty and I was ensnared in the story the moment it started. I mean, honestly, I have loved fairy tales since I was little, and reading about it being put together with modern day makes me OH-SO-EXCITED. And the more I read about Jade, the more I love her every move, her attitude, the way she steeled herself against anything and everything. She reminds me of an unlikely heroine. One who does not need any Prince Charming to save her. And I think that's why I honestly like her character the most, because she seemed to be the only one in the book who is independent and no matter how comfortable her surrounding is, she never lets her guard down, not even for a cute guy HAHA.

And Asher, OH ASHER. Bear my spazzing for a little while because Asher makes me feel like ASDFGHJKLZXCVBNMQWERTYUPOI. He is so charming, and not the sleazy kind. It's more like the I-have-this-charm-as-an-armour-to-protect-myself-from-the-fact-that-my-mom-is-a-b*tch kind of charm and it's really really cute. There were times when he would get hurt emotionally and he could still smile and make people laugh. SIGH. My type of guy. Now, where can I get myself a Prince Asher? HEHE.

And the story plot made me never want to stop reading. I could not anticipate what was going to happen next and my emotions were really on a roller coaster ride. One moment I would be laughing to myself, and the next I would be crying my ass off. GUYS, you need to read this book. It gives a whole new meaning to FAIRY TALES and of course, it's a series of fairy tales OMGOMGOMGOMG I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW. *breaks down and cries*
