In unserem allt�glichen Leben begegnet uns das Wort Bildung des �fteren, sei es als Begriff, als Anspruch oder auch als Versprechen. Wer kennt in Deutschland nicht die Sendung �Wer wird Million�r?�, in der uns der Moderator G�nther Jauch verspricht, mit Allgemeinbildung sogar zum Million�r zu werden?
Mit Bildung muss man sich also besch�ftigen, besser noch, man muss sie haben. Aber was ist Bildung nun eigentlich, bzw. wer darf sich gebildet nennen und wer nicht? Berechtigt Bildung heutzutage nur noch zu etwas oder kann sie zu etwas bef�higen? Ist Lernen in Bildungsinstitutionen lediglich am �konomischen Bedarf orientiert? Und werden Bildungsinhalte nicht nur noch unter den Perspektiven des �Bildungsmarktes� bedeutsam? Im Zuge der Kommerzialisierung und Liberalisierung des Bildungssektors durch die Nivellierung von Hochschulabschl�ssen, der fl�chendeckenden Einf�hrung von Studiengeb�hren in fast ganz Europa und den Privatisierungsbem�hungen der Welthandelsorganisation (WTO) etc., wird Bildung immer mehr zur Ware und damit zu einem profitablen Gut. Folglich liegt die Frage nahe, ob man in unserer heutigen Zeit �berhaupt noch von Bildung sprechen kann.
Der deutsche Philosoph und Soziologe Theodor Wiesengrund Adorno (1903-1969), der neben Max Horkheimer (1895-1973) als Hauptvertreter der kritischen Theorie der Gesellschaft gilt, hat sich in seinem Aufsatz �Theorie der Halbbildung� mit dem Begriff der Halbbildung besch�ftigt. Was unter Halbbildung zu verstehen ist und welches die wesentlichen Gr�nde f�r die Entwicklung und die Herrschaft dieser Halbbildung sind, versuche ich im Laufe dieser Arbeit zu skizzieren.
